Summer at Union Church | Press Over Stress

“They saw him from afar, and before he came near to them they conspired against him to kill him. They said to one another, “Here comes this dreamer. Come now, let us kill him and throw him into one of the pits. Then we will say that a fierce animal has devoured him, and we will see what will become of his dreams.” But when Reuben heard it, he rescued him out of their hands, saying, “Let us not take his life.” And Reuben said to them, “Shed no blood; throw him into this pit here in the wilderness, but do not lay a hand on him”—that he might rescue him out of their hand to restore him to his father. So when Joseph came to his brothers, they stripped him of his robe, the robe of many colors that he wore. And they took him and threw him into a pit. The pit was empty; there was no water in it.”

‭‭Genesis‬ ‭37:18-24‬

“So Joseph found favor in his sight and attended him, and he made him overseer of his house and put him in charge of all that he had.”

‭‭Genesis‬ ‭39:4

“And after a time his master’s wife cast her eyes on Joseph and said, “Lie with me.””

‭‭Genesis‬ ‭39:7

“Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.”

‭‭II Corinthians‬ ‭4:16-18

"When Joseph came to them in the morning, he saw that they were troubled. So he asked Pharaoh’s officers who were with him in custody in his master’s house, “Why are your faces downcast today?” They said to him, “We have had dreams, and there is no one to interpret them.” And Joseph said to them, “Do not interpretations belong to God? Please tell them to me.””

‭‭Genesis‬ ‭40:6-8

Pressed but not crushed. Perplexed but not in despair. Persecuted but not forsaken. Struck down but not destroyed.

“Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. He sent out his word and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction. Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! And let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving, and tell of his deeds in songs of joy!”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭107:19-22

“Yet the chief cupbearer did not remember Joseph, but forgot”

‭‭Genesis‬ ‭40:23

Don’t chase fantasy but pursue God and He makes dreams happen.

“Do not say, “I will repay evil”; wait for the Lord, and he will deliver you.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭20:22

What was born out of waiting? Manasseh-it is because God has made me forget all my trouble and all my father’s house & Ephraim- it is because God has made me fruitful in the land of my suffering

“‘Say to Joseph, “Please forgive the transgression of your brothers and their sin, because they did evil to you.”’ And now, please forgive the transgression of the servants of the God of your father.” Joseph wept when they spoke to him.”

‭‭Genesis‬ ‭50:17

“But Joseph said to them, “Do not fear, for am I in the place of God? As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today. So do not fear; I will provide for you and your little ones.” Thus he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.”

‭‭Genesis‬ ‭50:19-21
